Black Bear Diner in Monterey

This place was amazing! I'm happy we stopped in for breakfast. The portions were huge! Great selection and awesome atmosphere. The staff is super attentive and welcoming. Definitely a highlight of my California vacation

I ordered the biggest burger , med rare . It was amazing. Juicy, charred meat for flavor, was delicious!!😁

This is a fantastic restaurant with the most amazing breakfast options. The cinnamon French toast is the most delicious breakfast dish that is as sweet as it sounds, paired with eggs to order and some apple smoked bacon makes the breakfast complete. COVID19 spacing of the tables and all precautions are being taken. Be prepared to wait to be seated but no more than 10 minutes more then usual.

Love Black bear diner.. always great food... great service..Always a great atmosphere.Just a wonderful experience..I highly recommend Black bear diner to one and all.Young and old..And don't forget desert...They have the best pies ever..You can also purchase t-shirts/ hoodies and other merchandise with the Black bear Logo.Or multiple sizes of Black bear stuffed animals..Locate a diner near you and stop in and enjoy..

Service was great very friendly. Food was good. Loved the bears. Wish I had to for dessert.. I had the Apple chicken sausage.

This place is a hidden gem. Food is affordable and delicious. The theme of the diner is awesome. It's all about bears. Slogans and bear puns are all over the place. The decorations are amazing and most importantly the food is delicious. I ordered a 10oz New York steak for 20 dollars and it comes with two sides and a starter. It's not the best meal I've ever had but it's definitely worth every penny. We happened to discover this diner by coincidence. But, if I knew it was this good I would've been a recurent customer a long while ago. I definetly recommend this place. For individuals and maybe more for families.

I and a friend went for meatloaf which had been taken off the menu. He had fried I had fish and chips salad was excellent service was excellent prices were great

Staff greeted us rapidly and found us a nice spot to sit. Food was served quickly and our questions were answered promptly and fully about the food and service.Food was well presented, in generous portions and delicious.One of the best Diner experiences I have had, fully recommended this place.

Driven passed it for years. Extensive menu, in a semi themed environment, be warned kids may want to buy a teddy!I asked server for help deciding between entrees went for turkey. Not sure if off night 4 thick slices of luke warm turkey, congealed gravy, small amount of lumpy potato and green beans with squares of bacon fat. Other plates looked way more generous than mine, I ordered toast as I wanted something sweet to kill the taste of the green beans, plus was still hungry!Having done a road trip recently both Mimi's & even Denny's turkey dinner were way superior and I believe cheaper. Also ironically both seem to serve fresh vegetables, where as my green beans appeared tinned or frozen, as opposed to seasonal. Staff were friendly and did check backs, but 1 server to 10 plus tables.Some menu items appeal, so may give second chance, but based on tonight there are way better places for both quality and value.Shame wanted to like this place!

Excellent service. Arrived and within seconds got seated and were given our very nifty newspaper menus. Excellent place for carnivores. I wouldn't recommend visiting if you are vegetarian/vegan as this restaurant offers a significantly better selection of meat dishes. Breakfast served all day. The staff is very attentive and nice although they do not warn you what a big mistake you're making when ordering the avocado toast. Excellent subtle lighting which can mark the mood for any occasion you may be celebrating or even if you just want a nice cove-like place to dine-in.

Aloha! I have heard how good this Black Bear diner was that’s why we went. Great service and friendly staff. Clean restrooms. Ext to a gas station for those who are traveling, a big plus. Food was great and love the ambiance. We felt like we were truly bears eating here. Hurray for the Black Bear!

Inexpensive and huge plates! Fast and friendly service. Inexpensive toys and gifts that our family can use as incentive to keep our kids eating their whole meal and staying in their seats 😄

Am going back for sure. Want to try the fried chicken. Our meals were great. Don't fret the "no appetizers" thing. The house salad and soups come out fast and are really good.

Good location, friendly and fast service. The interior is like any other Black Bear Diner -- cozy and clean. I ordered an eggs benedict, but was disappointed that my eggs were overcooked. The Hollandaise sauce was nice and fluffy though. Portions are large and hearty. The hot sauces, however, tasted one-note to me; they tasted like beans & chili. The Mama Burn is the sweetest sauce, but overall, the house spices do not offer any diverse flavor profiles.

Thee best diner I've had to date! My husband and I ordered a beef burger with all of the fixings and I ordered a country fried steak with gravy, mash potatoes and veggies. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was fresh, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My husband's burger was flavorful and juicy, that he was eating it before we got to our destination! The cheesecake was creamy and oh so yummy!!

Mary C was a very attentive waitress. The food was very good. This is a nice family restaurant.

Stopped in @10am for a birthday breakfast for my dad. The restaurant offered plenty of parking, clean inside and out. We were promptly seated and offered drinks. Our order was placed and was severed quickly. As always, at Black Bear, large portions and tasty. The only disappointment, was the consistancy and taste of the gravy, for the biscuit. Staff sang happy birthday, gave my dad a muffin with a candle and a small stuffed black bear. Great service and food. We will be back.
